Admissions Criteria

The Garden Christian Academy adheres to three broad criteria during the application process.

Demographics:

Income: The Garden Christian Academy is honored to offer a distinguished, Christ-centered education which is affordable for all. We’re committed to serve a student body of which more than 70% of households meet federal low-income guidelines.

Location: More than 70% of families enrolled at The Garden Christian Academy live in Cleveland’s Near West Side, particularly the neighborhoods of Clark-Fulton, Stockyards, and Brooklyn Centre.

Commitment

The Garden Christian Academy requires a high level of commitment from both parents and students. Parents sign a parent covenant, ensuring their irreplaceable participation in their child’s education. Parent commitment is expressed through participation in all parent-teacher conferences and parent-involvement days, home visits from teachers, volunteering for all-school events, limiting their child’s media and screen-time, nightly homework-checking, and more.

Readiness

Academic Ability: Students of The Garden Christian Academy are prepared to be life-long learners, including success at the university level. Therefore, every student is expected to perform within a rigorous, classical, academic environment. Additionally, we provide moderately individualized academic support to help all students succeed.

Behavior: We believe a child’s education is enhanced by a disciplined and orderly environment. At The Garden Christian Academy, students are expected to reflect order in their appearance and interactions. Moreover, we vigorously promote the Biblical virtues of kindness, reconciliation, politeness, respect, and self-discipline.

Why Fees & Costs?

The Bible teaches “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Because we want every family we enroll to put their heart into this school—and to better support our distinguished student experience—our financial model includes fees and costs for families. At The Garden Christian Academy, however, we’ll never turn away a family for lack of funds—an education here is affordable for all! While this makes us different from the many zero-cost schools all around Cleveland, it means we attract families whose commitment to their children’s academic success is demonstrated by tangible investment.
